Congratulations to Kathleen Marshall of the Scituate High School Lacrosse team! Kathleen was named a 2009 and 2010 Patriot League All-Star. She is the 2010 Team Captain and holds the high-scoring record for a season with 49 goals and 47 assists. Kathleen is also the all-time leading scorer for the Scituate High School Girls Lacross team with a total of 247 points!

Congrats to former Coastal Employee, Pat Reardon

Coastal Nissan is proud to recognize the bravery and selflessness of a former employee. Pat Reardon was a Coastal employee years ago and has since become a member of the Cohasset Police force. Pat has demonstrated his commitment to public safety during several high profile cases involving dangerous criminals, including this all-day chase following a home intrusion.

We commend Pat on his dedication and extend our gratitude for his services.

Athletes of the Month for April

Please join us in congratulating Joe Granatino and Jack Sullivan of the Special Olympics of Massachusetts as our Athletes of the Month for April. These members of the South Shore SHARC swim team have contributed medals and enthusiasm during their tenure on the team.

Joe is a second year swimmer on the team and has already earned eight medals. Jack is a four year member and earned gold medals in both freestyle and backstroke during the regional meet in April.

Both of these swimmers are training for the Special Olympics Summer Games at Harvard and Boston University next month.

Coastal Nissan is pleased to donate $500 to the Special Olympics of Massachusetts in Joe and Jack's name.

Congratulations to Blake Ellis of the Braintree High School Gymnastics Team! Please join us in commending Blake for his exceptional performance throughout his high school career.

Blake won 14 individual championships, setting a record for Braintree High. As a senior captain, of the gymnastics team, he captured his second consecutive Individual All-Around State Championship, placing as the state champion in all disciplines except one - where he was the runner up!

Coastal Nissan selected as Nissan LCV Dealer!

Coastal Nissan has been awarded the new Nissan Light Commercial Vehicle franchise for the Boston area. The Nissan LCV line will be available at Coastal Nissan this fall and includes an entire fleet of vans, trucks and other specialty vehicles. Each vehicle was designed to address the needs and wants of the commercial vehicle market. Some of the industry leading features include stand-up height and car-like comfort.

Over the next few months, Coastal Nissan will be adding and training staff, as well as enhancing the dealership facility to ensure a successful launch of the new line of vehicles. These vehicles are avialable in 73% of world markets and account for 20% of Nissan's overall vehicle sales. The newest addition to the line-up, the NV200, has created a stir in the industry and was awarded the International Van of the Year 2010 award.

Kelly DuVal is the Athlete of the Month!

Please join us in congratulating Kelly DuVal of the Hanover Indians as the Coastal Nissan Athlete of the Month for February 2010.

Kelly is the second female from Hanover High School to score 1000 points, and one of only seven in school history. She is a three time Patriot League All-Star, Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Patriot Ledger, and Brockton Enterprise All Scholastic winner for basketball. Kelly also contributes as a team captain and has been part of a back-to-back Patriot League Fisher Division League Champion Team (2008-09, 2009-10).

Eric Sherman is the Athlete of the Month

Please join us in congratulating Eric Sherman of the Hingham Harbormen Ice Hockey team as the Coastal Nissan Athlete of the Month for January 2010.

Eric is a senior captain of the team and is pulled in for all critical game situations - including both power play and penalty killing units. In just 14 games, Eric has 10 goals and 14 assists, leading the Hingham team to be ranked 2nd in eastern MA.

In addition to his contributions on the ice, Eric is a student tutor. He donates several hours a week to the Peer Tutoring Program at the school and encourages students to create a balance among their social, academic, and athletic activities.

Coastal Nissan has donated $500 to the Hingham Athletic Fund in Eric's name.

Turn over a new LEAF!

The Nissan LEAF Zero Emission tour arrived in Boston yesterday - and left no carbon footprint in its wake! This revolutionary new all-electric vehicle will be available in a year and will provide consumers with the first affordable, practical, zero emission vehicle.

Massachusetts is partnering with Nissan to build the infrastructure to facilitate the widepread use of these uber-environmentally friendly vehicles. Picture this - you pull into the grocery store for a few items and take a preferred parking spot which doubles as a charging station. You'll be able to "top off" your LEAF while doing your errands. The vehicle will have a range of 100 miles between charges, making it perfect for daily driving.

Coastal Nissan will be receiving many of the LEAF vehicles as soon as they become available. We'll keep you posted as they start arriving. In the meantime, check out the photos above!

Robert is a junior co-captain of the team. He averaged 21 points during the month of December and leads the team in minutes played and steals for the year.

2nd Annual Coastal Nissan/ Kevin Faulk Promotion to benefit Wellspring

Kevin Faulk, New England Patriot #33, was at Coastal Nissan today to present a $2,200 check to Wellspring. Coastal Nissan pledged $100 for Wellspring for each reception and 1st down made by Kevin during the month of November and he came through big with 12 receptions and ten 1st downs.

In addition, Coastal offered discounts on vehicle service in exchange for donations of food and cash toward the Wellspring Food Pantry. As you can see above, Coastal customers were generous enough to stock the shelves!

Thank you again to Kevin Faulk for his tremendous efforts on the field and for participating in this annual promotion. We look forward to supporting the great work that Wellspring does in the South Shore for years to come.

Congratulations to Bernadette Byrne of the Braintree Wampatucks Swimming and Diving Program on being selected as the Athlete of the Month for November 2009.

Bernie provides inspiration to everyone she comes across at the pool and in the classroom. She has maintained highest honors in the most challenging courses while competing at the highest level in her sport. She holds eight career records at Braintree High school, participates in numerous community service programs and continuously shines on the school honor roll.

Kevin Faulk delivers for Wellspring!

The 2nd annual Coastal Nissan/Kevin Faulk fundraiser for Wellspring was a huge success. Kevin, #33 of the New England Patriots, came through with ten 1st downs and twelve receptions during the month of November, resulting in a two year total of $6000 for Wellspring!

Coastal customers also answered the call by donating $150 and three large boxes of food in exchange for service discounts and credits toward future service.

Thank to you everyone who participated - especially Kevin Faulk - for participating in this great annual event. We will post the photo from the check presentation as soon as we can get Kevin off the field for a few days.

Wellspring is the Winner - Week 2 Update

There was at least a ray of sunshine during the crushing loss suffered by the Patriots last Sunday. Kevin Faulk delivered yet another fantastic effort for Wellspring, resulting in four 1st downs and two receptions. Each 1st down and reception is worth a $100 donation from Coastal Nissan to Wellspring, a multiservice center providing support to South Shore residents. After two weeks, Kevin has earned $1400 toward our goal of surpassing last year's total of $3800.

While the Patriots will spend this week regrouping and preparing for another division match up this weekend, we will continue to cheer on #33 Kevin Faulk for the great work he is doing for Wellspring.

2nd Annual Wellspring Promotion with Kevin Faulk

It is November, so it must be time for turkeys, leaves, football, and the Coastal Nissan charity partnership with Wellspring! The Hull, MA based organization serves the South Shore community by providing support for those facing financial, physical, or mental difficulties. This worthwhile promotion allows you to feel great about cheering for the Patriots and especially for team favorite #33, Kevin Faulk. As with last year, Coastal Nissan will donate $100 to Wellspring for each catch and 1st down Kevin makes during the month of November.

The Pats had fantastic games against the Titans and the Bucs and all signs point toward a very productive November for Kevin. Last year, #33 had his best November of a 10-year career with the Patriots - giving his all to earn money for Wellspring.

Have you heard about Nissan's new zero-emissions electric vehicle?

The LEAF will be the first mass-produced, completely emission-free vehicle manufactured in the U.S. (beginning in 2012). Nissan will have Japan-produced vehicles available for sale in the U.S. during 2010

Nissan is partnering with Phoenix-based ECOtality Inc. to develop charging stations in areas targeted for the Leaf Launch. Initial plans have designated the east and west coasts in addition to the area around the Smyrna, Tennessee factory where they will be produced in the U.S. starting in 2012.

Based on strong initial demand for the car, Nissan will begin taking reservations in the spring of 2010. For information on the launch, you can opt-in to receiving email updates from Nissan here. Coastal Nissan is thrilled to spread the word about our favorite New England Patriot. Kevin has been a friend, client, and spokesperson of ours for the past four years. We couldn't be happier that his charitable works have been recognized through the Ron Burton Community Service Award.

Kevin's outstanding record of first downs and catches last season led to a $3800 donation from Coastal Nissan to Wellspring in Hull, MA. Wellspring is a multi-service organization that offers people in need a hand up, not a hand out.

In recognition of the work Kevin has done, Robert Kraft of the Patriots organization had this to say about this year's winner,

“For the past 10 years, Kevin Faulk has been one of our go-to guys, both on and off the field,” said Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft. “He has been quick to volunteer for dozens of charitable events through our community relations department and is always the first player to arrive and the last to leave. For the past few years, he has been bringing his children to the community events he attends to teach the values he learned as a child, to help those who are in need. We are proud to present Kevin with the 2009 Ron Burton Award. He is a deserving honoree.”

There are great things happening in Parts and Service at Coastal Nissan this summer. We are pleased to announce that Paul Roche has taken the helm in the Parts Department. We are also welcoming back John Fiore as a parts consultant. George Sullivan, one of our longest tenured employees and a pillar of the Service Department, has moved to our Norwell location from Cohasset. Fortunately for all of our Cohasset customers, Bill Mullen is still doing a great job of running the show at Coastal Auto Center.

These changes must be having a good impact on our customers. So far in 2009, we've seen a 10% increase in customer repair orders and increased retention as measured by Nissan's corporate office.

We'd like to say thank you to our customers and to our employees for making this a great year despite the challenges we've all been facing. Thanks again and see you at Coastal!

The results are in! Two of Nissan's most beloved models are also the top achievers in their class for initial quality, according to J.D. Power and Associates. To win these awards, the vehicles have the fewest reported problems with initial quality among all new vehicle purchasers.

The 2009 Altima was crowned "Highest Ranked Midsize Car in Initial Quality" - meaning it outperformed the usual suspects like Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 to take the top spot. These vehicles are available free of charge for major scheduled services and repairs. Our loaner fleet is also available as rental vehicles for customers in need of a vehicle for a few days. You may not think of a dealership as an environmentally-friendly business but you can set your fears aside when you come into Coastal Nissan. The Norwell, MA dealership was built just 4 years ago and incorporated all the latest thinking for energy efficiency and minimal impact on the surroundings.

Just a few of the thoughtful touches implemented:

Waste Oil burning furnace - rather than generating more waste oil that is difficult to dispose of, we reuse it to heat the building
Recycling - we recycle paper and all plastics (1-7) and aluminum, steel
Minimal Energy Expenditure - we have placed all lighting on timers to ensure they are only used when needed. We also use programmable thermostats to reduce over-heating or over-cooling the facility

When was the last time you saw one of these on the road? It has probably been a while since this baby is a vintage 1978 Datsun 280Z. We bought this car from a dealer who took it in on trade when the owner purchased a new Nissan 350Z. The 280Z has only had 2 owners throughout its 30 years and still has original tires, engine, transmission, interior - even the spare and the tool kit! This vehicle was so lovingly maintained that it doesn't have a spot of rust on it anywhere.

You can visit this beauty in our Norwell showroom for a trip down memory lane - or a glimpse into the DNA of the new Nissan 370Z.

Coastal Employee News

We'd like to share some great news about the group at Coastal Nissan. We've added a few new employees in our service department and have wedding news for a couple others.

Next time you are in the service drive, please say hello to Ryan McMahon. He joins us as a Service Advisor with a strong background with both Nissan and Infiniti vehicles- and not just from the outside. Ryan also spent a few years under the hood so he can apply that insight to enhance your service experience. Outside of the dealership you can find Ryan cheering on his favorite Boston sports teams - the Celtics and Bruins. While he is also a big Pats fan he'll have to wait a few months before he can get that gear out again...

Coincidentally, we are also welcoming John McMahon, who is not a known relative of Ryan's but they haven't finished comparing the family trees yet. John is a skilled technician with plenty of Nissan experience, mostly at a dealership on the North Shore. He is from Somerville and enjoys playing DJ with friends in his downtime.

We're also glad to have Joey Robbins back in the shop. Joey has returned to Coastal after a brief hiatus and the service department is pleased to have him back on the job.

We'd also like to share exciting news for some of the ladies at Coastal Nissan. Kate DeMullis is expecting her first baby this month. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of her son.

Lyndsay McAloon, Coastal's Finance Manager, took the leap over the holidays. She and her husband were married just before Christmas (at the tail end of the big snowstorm). They'll have great stories to tell on their anniversaries!

Congratulations to Maggie McGoldrick of the Cohasset High School Soccer Team

Maggie has had a spectacular season as a senior captain on the team. She is a three year South Shore League All Star and a two year Eastern Massachusetts All Star nominee. This fall she was unanimously voted the number one player in the South Shore League by the coaches. Maggie's leadership on the field helped her team to capture their first ever sectional title.

The New 370Z

Lower. Wider. Lighter. That basically sums up the changes to the body style. You'll need a lot more words to capture what that means for the driving experience. In January 2009 the legendary 350Z is getting an updated look and more powerful engine. The sportscar, already a head-turner, is now even more stylish and aggressive. Another Great Day for Wellspring and Kevin Faulk

Last night Kevin Faulk delivered a fantastic effort for Wellspring but the Pats weren't able to pull it off. Unfortunately, the Jets got the better of them with an overtime win in a nailbiter but Kevin's four catches and three first downs earned another $700 for Wellspring.

We're hoping the Pats and Wellspring will have a winning game next week. Two more to go in November!

New Owners Clinic

Coastal Nissan welcomed 25 new owners to our first New Owners Clinic, held November 6th. For 90 minutes owners were presented with critical information about their new vehicles, including:

Congratulations to Kristina Katsikas, winner of the Coastal Nissan Athlete of the Month award for October. As the senior caption for the Hanover High School field hockey team, she helped guide the Lady Indians to a Patriot League championship.

Coastal Nissan has donated $500 to the Hanover Athletic Fund in Kristina's name. Congratulations again to Kristina and the Lady Indians.

You may not think of a dealership as an environmentally-friendly business but you can set your fears aside when you come into Coastal Nissan. The Norwell, MA dealership was built just 4 years ago and incorporated all the latest thinking for energy efficiency and minimal impact on the surroundings.

Just a few of the thoughtful touches implemented:

Waste Oil burning furnace - rather than generating more waste oil that is difficult to dispose of, we reuse it to heat the building
Recycling - we recycle paper and all plastics (1-7) and aluminum, steel
Minimal Energy Expenditure - we have placed all lighting on timers to ensure they are only used when needed. We also use programmable thermostats to reduce over-heating or over-cooling the facility

These are a few of the efforts we've made to minimize our impact on the environment while providing a comfortable and enjoyable setting. Come in and see for yourself!

Kevin Faulk Celebrity Softball Game

New England running back Kevin Faulk is hosting a softball game on May 17th. The all-star event will take place on at Campanelli Stadium, the home of the Brockton Rox. With the help of many Patriot teammates, Kevin will raise money for the United Way of Mass Bay.
